Tips to make gluten-free travel easy

Tips to make gluten-free travel easy

1. Research before you travel: I have literally divided the world like this- gluten-eating world and non-gluten eating world. Traveling to countries where they eat a lot of rice is still easier. For example, countries like Vietnam and Thailand didn’t trouble much but when I was in Portugal I was hungry the entire day because I forgot to pack my lunch. So it is always better to know the place before you leave. land the destination, hop on a cab and go to the nearest supermarket where you can get GF supplies.

2. Learn how to say ‘no gluten’ in the local language: This may sound funny but it really helped me in many places. I had written the words down on a paper and would show to the waiter or the storekeeper every time I wanted to communicate and when they couldn’t understand English.

3. Stay at an Airbnb: make sure you stay at a place where there is a proper kitchen to cook. You can get the GF ingredients from the market and make your own food. make sandwiches, pack salads, etc and you are set for the entire day. This has literally saved my life, now I hardly look for hotels.

4. Carry fruits or snacks always: long trips to the markets, museums or the beaches can be hectic, so always carry something in your bag.

5. Book GF meals with the airlines before leaving: before booking the flight check with the airlines, many airlines do have a separate GF menu. make sure you book the airline with a GF menu when it is along with hauled flight also make sure you pre-book the meal because you have to notify them in advance.

6. Book your accommodation around a market area: I always do this so that I can go to the supermarket or the fruit store to buy fresh produce.
