Banana bread is awesome! This bread is perfect any time of the day, you can have it with your morning coffee or in the afternoon as a snack. This recipe is also great for people who are not very confident bakers but who want an easy, mess-free recipe.

Did you know that Feb 23 is celebrated as a food holiday in the US, known as banana bread day?

Some say that the first ever banana bread recipe was published in 1893, but the bread became hugely popular in the 1930s. In modern times, the first banana bread recipe came in 1933, Pillsbury balanced recipe cookbook. The original banana bread was made using banana flour but slowly people started using mashed bananas instead.

You know in the 1930s two important developments happened that led to somewhat of a baking revolution. Firstly, flour was rationed so people started coming up with various other recipes in baking that were flour free. Another thing, baking powder and soda came around this time which really changed the whole baking game. Also during the first world war bananas were not that popular and the fruit started piling up in Hawaii, and since regular flour was heavily rationed people started using bananas in various ways, started making banana flour for baking and started incorporating bananas in various ways and as they say, rest is history.

The goodness of bananas:

We all know bananas are great for us, but just how great- Bananas contain potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, and various antioxidants and phytonutrients.

Potassium: is extremely important for our body, you must have heard about the sodium-potassium balance, and yes it is very important to maintain this balance for overall health. Potassium also maintains heart health and regulates low BP.

Vitamin B6- is important for brain function and keeping the nervous system healthy.

Vitamin C- we all know the benefits of Vitamin C, it is great for skin, hair, and most importantly it protects our cells and keeps them healthy.
