Bagel Bites Recipe

The recipe I am sharing today is easy and comes together within minutes. You know how gluten-free baking is cumbersome, especially the bread but this one is different, it is not only easy but also very ‘non-gluten’ like. Catch my drift eh?

You don’t need any fancy ingredients too, no yeast, no butter, and no mixer. YASSS! Hate using the mixer, use it, clean it, wipe it…oh the mess never ends. So for these mini bites, you need gluten-free bread flour, baking soda, baking powder, yogurt, an egg, salt, and sugar.

How can I eat these Bagel Bites?

These beauties are like dinner rolls, but much better. Since this doesn’t have any butter, they are much lighter on the tummy. You can have these with soups, dips, butter, jams, etc. The version I made is with cheese, so they are good on their own. You can enjoy them warm with chai or coffee. YUM YUM YUM!

Gluten-Free Bagel Bites

Are These Like Real Bagels?

Well, almost! These are much smaller, doesn’t have a hole in the middle, and are not boiled and then baked. But tastes as great.

Get to Know The Ingredients

Yogurt: The thicker the better.
Flour: I used gluten-free bread flour.
Cheese: I used Amul pizza cheese; you can use even cream cheese.
Salt: is important to flavor it.
Sugar: Yeast in yogurt will act faster with sugar.
Egg: This just gives a nice color to the surface of the bagel.
Baking soda and baking powder: There is no yeast as such in the recipe so you need something to make the bagels fluffy.

Optional Ingredients for Bagel Bites

EGG: The egg is mostly used to brush the bagels with; if you are vegetarian then you can totally skip this ingredient.
Chia Seeds: I sprinkled the bagel bites with some chia seeds, if you wanna use some other seeds or nuts please go ahead.
Cheese: I filled the bagels with cheese, but this is completely optional, if you wanna just enjoy the basic bagels then skip the cheese.

Tips For Making Bagel Bites

  1. Use the best gluten-free bread flour. Gluten-free all-purpose flour can be a bit starchy at times, so try using a good quality product for this.
  2. The dough will be sticky, and that’s normal. The hard dough will make very hard bagels. So make a moist, sticky dough. Use gloves if you don’t want the dough to stick to your fingers.
  3. You know you can even make them sweet by adding raisins or dehydrated dry fruits.
  4. Different gluten-free flours behave differently, so it is okay to tweak the measurements of the flour a bit. If the texture of the dough feels too tight then add some yogurt, if it seems too runny then add some more flour.
